The Yule Sabbat is upon us. The Wheel of the Year has turned once more. Yule, the Winter Solstice, marks the longest night and the shortest day of the year. It is a turning point, signifying the Rebirth of the Sun and the return of the light. It is from darkness – the inspiration, the strength, and the survival of life, which eventually emerges again with the coming of the light. Our inner light shines more brightly. Celebrate the power of faith which allows our dreams and affirmations to come into manifestation. Let go of what is not needed anymore. Leave it in the past year. Trust that your dreams, hopes and wishes will come into fruition. Manifest your desires. On this day, begin a conscious effort to keep increasing this amount of light within you. Allow it to continue to build much brighter and brighter with every passing day. Positive thoughts, and much love, flow in and around us all.
The season of Yule is a time of both reflection and celebration. A time to connect with our own inner wisdom and with people surrounding us. This is a sacred time to promote spiritual unity and to tune into the frequency which supplies us. This is when the dark hours of the year give way to the light hours. Starting the morning after the winter solstice at sunrise, the sun climbs just a little higher and stays a little longer in the sky each day. The warming of the frozen Mother Earth – where She has protected the seeds within Her womb.
Yule/Winter Solstice is when we can combine old traditions with new ones.
It is a Blessing to celebrate the warmth and light of hope in the midst of the cold and dark, whether you do this with loved ones or on your own.
My family On The Road – Myself, Wayne, and Lua – celebrated our first Yule together. In Ehrenberg Arizona while on our adventure. It was a beautiful day, filled with a fun mix of new traditions. Our gift giving was fun! Lua received some special dog treats. I received 3 HATS! A Yule Hat, A Route 66 Hat, and a Flapper Hat. I LOVE them all so much! Wayne – a former drummer in a popular rock band – received BONGOS!
Wayne started a new tradition for us. A hat filled with candy! I don’t think I’ll ever see so much candy in one space again until next Yule. YUMMY
We ended the day by going out for dinner at a kitchy Chinese restaurant. A perfect way to spend Yule together.
Here is a Yule Ritual which can be done for celebration of the Sabbat. It can be conducted any time between the day of Yule and the beginning of the New Year.
This ritual will open you up to positivity and possibility for the New Year. It is designed to leave behind any negativity in the old year and make your New Year hopes and wishes become a reality. Welcome this Turn of the Wheel with an open mind and an open heart. Make your dreams become a Reality. This ritual will open your mind to receiving the Universe’s gifts.
Before you begin the ritual, reflect and meditate on these questions.
What do you want to leave behind with the old year?
Beliefs you are holding onto that you are ready to let go off. Any negativity that is weighing on you.
What are your hopes and wishes for the New Year?
Get clear and specific for what you would like to draw into your life. The clearer you are the more power the ritual will hold.
Write everything down for use in the ritual.
• Candles: One Black, One Blue, One White
• A Crystal ideal for absorbing negativity: rose quartz, obsidian, smoky quartz
• Incense: Sage or Sandalwood
The real power of this ritual is the intention you place behind it.
Personally, I always smudge myself and my surroundings before performing any Ritual.
Take three deep cleansing breaths to ground and center.
Imagine Divine energy descending into your body from upwards in the Universe, coming in through your crown chakra at the top of your head. Feel this energy traveling down throughout your body, entering each chakra. Feel it light all chakras, and allow their field to shine.
Spend a few minutes feeling the energy traveling down straight to the Root Chakra. Imagine this energy rooting from the base of your spine and growing deeper into the Earth below you.
Sit for a few minutes, feeling yourself becoming connected as an infinite root extending from the Divine above, through your body, in through to Mother Earth below.
Spend a few more minutes feeling the Earth energy traveling up the root, through the body and entering in through each chakra once again. Then feel that energy bursting through the crown chakra and extending far into the Universe.
Once you feel grounded, perform these steps.
Light the incense and hold the crystal and candles over the smoke to cleanse them. This clears their space, and empowers the crystal to absorb the negative energy you want to leave behind. Hold the crystal in your hand. Close your eyes. Feel its vibration.
Ask the crystal to help you, and ask it to absorb the negative thoughts and limiting beliefs you want to leave behind with the old year. Let all of this flow into your crystal.
Next, hold your candles in your hands.
Close your eyes and think about all the hopes and wishes you have for the New Year. As you hold the candles, say out loud your hopes and wishes for the New Year. Don’t hold back. The clearer you are, the more energy you will give the candles. Light the candles one by one.
Close your eyes or gaze into the flames of your candles and say a prayer.
Say a prayer that all your hopes and wishes will manifest with the flames of this fire. Ask for all your limiting beliefs and negativity to be burned away. Ask for these Yule flames to light the spark of your hopes and wishes for the New Year, and to give you the strength and power to bring them to your life. Place your candles somewhere where they can safely burn all the way down.
Spend a few final moments in this meditation.
Ask the Universe to hear your call.
Ask for assistance from the Universe to bring your hopes and wishes to life; to assist you to realize your own power.
When you are ready, remember to send a prayer of Thanks to the Universe.
